Why money doesn't bring happiness
July 14th, 2006
Do you honestly think money would make you happier?
In a nationwide survey, the University of Michigan conducted a survey to a number of people, asking if you were rich, would you be happy?
Most of the time, people are content and satisfied. Heck, at this point in my life, I am extremely happy. If I did receive a large sum of money, my passion for computers and helping people with technology issues wouldn't fade at all.
Based on the article, the authors write:
When someone reflects on how more income would change subjective well-being, they are probably tempted to think about spending more time in leisurely pursuits such as watching a large-screen plasma TV or playing golf...But in reality, people should think of spending a lot more time working and commuting and a lot less time engaged in passive leisure and other enjoyable activities.
Ask yourself this question. If you did receive a large sum of money, would you continue to do what you do or follow your leisurely pursuits?
